Suffragan Bishop Joseph Oliver and Sister Carrie Oliver of Ebenezer Chapel of New Haven arrived at Star Bethlehem Church with a large contingent of saints including their very fine choir. The choir blessed us with two selections, bookending a solo by our own Deacon Julius Draughn. Then a quiet, soft-spoken, gentle-man of God stepped up to the podium to deliver the message that God had given him. Pastor Oliver spoke to us about Our Christian Walk. His text was taken from Psalm 1:1-2, "Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly...." and from Ephesians 5:15-16 "See then that ye walk circumspectly...." He started slowly and softly, as is his custom, but when he spoke of how Jesus suffered, bled and died for us - there was a power in his voice that was more than his own.
