The dinner was fresh fried porgees, hush puppies, green beans, potato saled and a large piece of cake for desert.
The Bible tells us fish were important in the Holy Land. One of the gates to the city of Jerusalem was called the Fish Gate because that is where the fish market was (ref. Neh 3:3, 13-16). All four Gospel books tell of the miracle of the Loaves & the Fishes in which over five thousand were fed. And, of course, the disciples Simon Peter and his brother Andrew were fishermen in Galilee. It may be remembered that a simple drawing of a fish (shown above) was an early symbol of Christians and Christianity - a means of identification during a time of persecution by the Roman authorities.
